My Journey

When I think back to when I started in the photography world, it makes me laugh. My first wedding was by far the easiest one I have done to date, as the newlyweds only wanted candid shots at the reception. That being said, it was my first EVER wedding. I had butterflies the whole way there. I called my husband once I parked my car, and told him I was going to vomit. I was shaking like a leaf. What if I screw this up?
What if they don't like me?
What if their vision is different than mine?
I CAN'T DO THIS! AHHHHHH!
My wonderful, supportive husband pushed me through those thoughts. He told me I was crazy, to get out of the car and just go do it. " DO it Jaime, I know you can! "

Every wedding I have done since has made me grow into the person and photographer I am today. I am no where near perfect, I want to learn a lot more, but I have come a long way. I spose every photog out there could say the same thing.

I am going to bore you all with a little story.

Growing up, my parents divorced when I was 7. I never knew if I ever wanted to get married, let alone believe in what it stands for, after watching one end. That is, until I met Dave. ( Here's where it turns a little mushy! ) I knew, just knew in my soul we would get married, and we did. October 18th, 2008 was one of my favourite days. Having my hair done, being pampered, my beautiful wedding gown, walking down the aisle to Dave, having all my family in town- this was the day I fell in love with weddings. I knew that from that moment on I wanted to shoot weddings.

Being part of someone's wedding day is really important to me. And getting to do it while looking through the viewfinder is even more amazing. Capturing details, expressions and emotions that you would otherwise not see. That is my "job". Although it has never, ever felt like a job to me. Connecting with the bride, being supportive of her, helping out with forgotten flowers, painting toenails, helping with makeup, making sure everyone eats and drinks water ( and mimosas! ), organizing a huge group of people, keeping track of time and tying up countless dresses are just a few things I do on a wedding day!

In case you hadn't noticed, I love what I do!

Thank you to all my wonderful clients, which of whom are all friends now. Thank you to my husband, my family, and everyone else who has picked me up and pushed me when I needed it.

Welcome everyone!!

For those of you that know me, I know nothing about websites. I don't understand codes, layouts, etc. For the past few years, my very handy husband has been building complicated websites for me. Don't get me wrong- they were beautiful and I loved them! I just found it frustrating that I couldn't edit and update them myself. Then I found this site. I LOVE it!! It is so easy to use for me and you. It is clean and easy to see all of my work. So, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am!

I am also very excited to finally have a blog. I always wanted to be a writer, so this is super fun for me!

Have a great day everyone, and check back often for updates!

Jaime
